“Thy word is a lamp to
my feet and a light to my path.” (Psalm 119:105)
First Presbyterian Church provides
educational opportunities for all ages in an environment
that encourages learning through study, activity, and
fellowship. Realizing that we are all in the process of
growing in faith, we encourage questions and exploration
of ideas that help us to better define and understand
what we believe and that ultimately lead us to a closer
relationship with Christ.
Sunday
Opportunities
Adult
Bible Study
meets at 9:30 AM in the Witherspoon Room. Current topic:
“3:16” – a study of key passages of scripture, book by
book. This class looks at one book of the Bible each
week with a general overview of the book and an in-depth
look at chapter 3, verse 16. The textbook, 3:16,
is by Donald Knuth. Class led by Tom Miles.
Sunday
School
classes are held for children, preschool – grade 8, on
the lower level of the church from 9:30 – 10:15.
Children through grade 5 use the PCUSA curriculum We
Believe, and the curriculum for grades 6-8 is Group
Publishing’s FaithWeaver series. A dedicated,
caring team of volunteer teachers lead these classes.
Fall classes begin September 18.
Children’s Worship
takes
place part way through the traditional worship service
for children in preschool – grade 5. Children are
dismissed to participate in their own time of worship.
The concepts, scriptures, and elements of the service
are reinforced in a way that is engaging and
kid-friendly. Children participate in music, stories,
drama, and activities.
Nursery
for infants and toddlers is also provided during the
service.

WOW
and
Reach Out
All ages come together in worship and/or
service for these two programs.
WOW
is
an informal, contemporary worship service
that takes place on the first Wednesday
of the month from 7:15 – 7:45.
Reach
Out
(third Wednesday of the month)
provides opportunities for us to respond
to God’s love by reaching out to those around us. Recent
projects have included canvassing the neighborhood for
food to be donated to the Red Cross Food Pantry and
making Easter gifts for shut-ins and those needing a
lift within our church. |
