PRAYER CONCERNS
Prayers of Concern John Kingsnorth
(Nancy Klunzinger’s brother), Sue Blodgett, Wally
Blodgett, Lucille Wysong, Hilary Burns (Heidi Rocha’s
sister), Miriam Kersey (Dan Staples cousin), Nancy Enders, Waldo Sauter and Liz Hubbard.
Loving God, keep our hearts, minds, and hands open to your family
around the world. In Christ’s name. Amen.
Prayer taken from the 2011
Mission Yearbook for Prayer and Study.
Calling All College Students
We are trying to collect all contact information on our college
students. Please email the church office with any information you have to
give us. Thank you for helping us to keep connected.
Sunday School: It's Not Just For Kids!
There are two opportunities for adults on Sunday mornings at 9:30.
The first is a class studying wisdom literature in the Bible. This group meets
in the parlor and is looking at parts of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of
Solomon, and Matthew.
The second is the "Nooma"
discussion group meeting in the Witherspoon Room, beginning Oct. 9. This
group uses short, thought-provoking videos to explore key areas of faith. Both
groups will make you think, and both groups welcome any newcomers!
Wednesdays@First Potluck
Our Wednesdays@First activities resume
on October 5! There will be a potluck at 6 (bring a dish to pass and place
setting) followed by games and activities led by Andrew Miller. Come greet old
friends and make some new ones! We will meet each month on the first Wednesday
in the Fellowship Hall.
SpringHill Juniors
Retreat
We will be taking 4th, 5th, and 6th graders to SpringHill
Camp on November 11-13 for a fun-filled weekend of high-energy activity and
worship. The theme this year is “Upside Down.” When Jesus came, preaching
and healing and serving, it wasn't at all what the world was expecting. Jesus
turned their idea of an earthly kingdom upside down and instead built a Kingdom
based on humility and service. This year at Juniors',
we'll focus on the concepts in Philippians 2:5-11 and Mark 10:45, and explore
the example of Christ and his upside down Kingdom. Please see Mary Jo Cox
to register. Deadline is October 2. Scholarships available!
About the Bulletin
In an effort to be good stewards of our resources, we are printing
less in the bulletin. If you are having trouble reading the text that is
projected overhead, the office is printing some bulletins with all text
included. Just let the ushers know that you would like one.
E-Chimes for those without a computer
If you do not have a computer and wish to receive the E-Chimes
weekly, please let the office know. The office will be printing extra
copies and placing them outside of the office door on the glass case.
Stop the Violence (Purple Tie Sunday)
Women’s Aid Service recognizes the importance of men’s role to end
Domestic Violence. In honor of October, Domestic Violence Awareness Month
we are asking ALL men to join us, for one day and demonstrate their commitment
by simply wearing a purple tie.
For one day on October 25th, 2011 we are asking
you to come together and stand up for your mother, wife, daughter and your
community and say STOP THE VIOLENCE!
Wear your PURPLT tie and make a statement!
For more information contact Women’s Aid Service @ 989-463-6324.
A new Book in the Church Library
A book has been placed in the Church Library in memory of Alene Brittain. “Living Beyond Your Feelings” by Joyce Meyer.
Men’s Morning Prayer Group
The men’s morning prayer group is meeting
the 2nd Tuesday of each month at LiL-Chef
restaurant at 6:30 am. Please join us for a time of prayer, study and
fellowship.
Mardi Gras Parade, Friday, September 30
Help us represent FPC in the parade! We will gather at the
Patton's (211 S. Kinney) at 4:00 to decorate. Walk alongside or ride in the
truck during the parade at 6:00 (leave from Sacred Heart parking lot). Potluck
dinner at the Patton's following the parade! Come for all or part! Always a lot
of fun for all ages!
